Practical Information

Who I work with

I offer psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults in every life situation. Psychotherapy is available in individual and couples settings and can be conducted in German and English.

Time

Therapy sessions last 50 minutes. The number and frequency of sessions are individual and depend on your needs and circumstances. Especially at the beginning, weekly sessions are recommended, although this can be adjusted on an ongoing basis.

Location

Unless otherwise agreed, psychotherapy takes place at the Karmeliterpraxis (Karmeliterplatz 5/4, 1020 Vienna). The practice is barrier-free and well connected by public transport via the U1, U2 and U4, as well as tram line 2 and bus 5A. In exceptional cases, online sessions are possible on request.

Fees

Each session (including the non-binding initial consultation) costs 80 euros; Reduced social rates are available to a limited extent. (Partial) reimbursement by health insurance is not possible, as I am still working under supervision.

If you are unable to attend an agreed appointment, please cancel it at least 24 hours in advance by email, phone call or text message. For later cancellations (including initial consultations), I unfortunately have to charge the fee, as the practice room is reserved for you.

Process

After you get in touch by phone or email, we will arrange an appointment for a non-binding initial consultation at the practice. There we get to know each other, you have space to talk about your concerns, and you can get an impression of whether you could imagine doing therapy with me. Not everything needs to be said at this point – it is about a first impression that should make it easier for you to decide for or against working together further.

Confidentiality

I am bound by statutory confidentiality (Section 45 of the Austrian Psychotherapy Act). Our therapy sessions are strictly confidential.

What does “psychotherapist in advanced training under teaching supervision” mean?

A “psychotherapist in advanced training under teaching supervision” has already completed enough theoretical and practical training to be qualified to conduct therapy sessions independently. As a legally required part of the training, she must gain further practical experience until completing her training, which is why the therapeutic process is regularly discussed with experienced therapists (supervisors) in a carefully anonymised way. For you, this means that the therapy is professionally monitored and supported.

Can I rely on therapy being confidential?

Yes, I am bound by statutory confidentiality (Section 45 of the Austrian Psychotherapy Act). Everything you tell me in therapy stays in our room. Due to my status as “in advanced training under teaching supervision”, I do discuss aspects of the therapeutic process with experienced therapists, but always in a strictly anonymised form. Without your explicit consent, I do not pass anything on to other people such as relatives, employers or other professionals. The only exception to absolute confidentiality is when there is an acute danger – to yourself or to others. In that case I would be legally obliged to take measures to protect life and health until sufficient safety has been restored.

How long does therapy last?

How long a therapeutic process lasts is very individual. It depends, among other things, on what brings you to therapy and how ready you feel to make changes. Sometimes further topics emerge in the course of our work together that you would like to give space to. It is important to me that we regularly reflect on the process together: Where are you right now? What has already changed? And what kind of support is helpful for you at the moment? This way we can decide together how often and over what period further work together makes sense for you.

Can I be sure that therapy will help?

In short: there is no guarantee, but psychotherapy has been shown to help many people – and they can feel it themselves. How well and how quickly psychotherapy works varies. It depends, for example, on the therapeutic relationship, the methods, your life situation and your readiness for change. Important: psychotherapy can also have side effects , e.g. temporarily increased emotional strain, frustration with slow progress or changes in your personal environment. Such difficulties can often be worked through by addressing them openly in therapy. Personally, I place particular importance on regularly reflecting together on your therapy, so that we stay on a path that is right for you.
